Herbs - Their Use and Delight

Jackie Sheen will share her secrets of using herbs for a variety of purposes. The program highlights the use of herbs, provides helpful hints on growing herbs, and will describe how to harvest and store herbs. Steen will present recipes for using fresh herbs from your garden.
Steen is a fourth generation Texan, born and raised in Jefferson County and currently residing in Port Arthur, her home for the past 43 years. She is the author of Cooking Light, Eating Smart- Recipes for a Healthy Lifestyle a cookbook of heart-healthy recipes. The cookbook evolved from her ten year cooking segments called In the Kitchen with Jackie a KFDM Channel 6 News at Noon program with Dan Gresham.
Steen is a member and past president of Thyme for Herbs Society having served twice as Herb Fest Chairperson over the annual Herb Day event. She currently serves as Chair of the newly established unit of Herb Society of America, Southeaset Texas Unit of which she is founding, charter member. Steen is also a Texas Master Gardener.
When she is not gardening or giving programs to the community, she volunteers her time as docent at the McFaddin-Ward House Museum in Beaumont and serves as Eucharistic Minister and lector at her church St. James in Port Arthur.
