Medicinal Plants - Wild Wednesdays
June 17, 2009
The Wild Wednesday Program is a series of educational programs offered during the summer. These programs run every Wednesday, from 9:30 – 10:30 am, June through mid-August. Wild Wednesdays will begin June 3 and run through August 12.
June 3, 10, 17 and 24:
Wild Wednesdays for the month of June will be a series of classes dedicated to the medicinal plants of the world. We will discover plants with cures from headaches to skin conditions, while taking a trip around the world learning about different cultures and plants that are still used today for traditional medicine. We will take a tour of the gardens and view a wide range of plants with medicinal properties and learn how to create a medicinal garden in your own backyard. Kaleb Borg, Shangri La’s Production Greenhouse Supervisor, and Gary Outenreath, Shangri La’s Landscape Planning and Management Director, will be leading these four classes. Each week will be a different topic with new knowledge to gain about the world of medicinal plants. For these specials topics we will be holding TWO classes each day during the month of June. There will be one class from 9:30am – 10:30am for the general public and a second class from 11:00am – 12:00pm strictly for Shangri La volunteers. All participants must RSVP with a limit of 25 individuals for each session. Please call 409.670.0803.
