Star and Cresent Moon Café

The name “Star and Crescent Moon” represents a symbol for the new beginning in Texas that was sought by the ancestors of Lutcher Stark. This symbol was used by the Lutcher & Moore Lumber Company that was co-founded by H.J. Lutcher Stark’s grandfather, and it has since become the insignia for the Stark Foundation, the non-profit organization that was established in 1961 by Lutcher Stark and that continues his philanthropic legacy through its programs, including Shangri La.

A selection of sandwiches and salads is available.    Star and Crescent Moon Cafe menu.

David Claybar

David Claybar discovered his love of food as a child by watching his mother and grandmother prepare family meals. While studying business administration at Sam Houston State University, he decided his true passion was in the restaurant business. After graduation, he attended the Art Institute of Houston and received his culinary arts degree in 2003. He immediately began working at Old Orange Café, which he purchased in January 2004.

David’s family roots run deep in Orange’s history, and his role in both the Old Orange Café and now the Star and Crescent Moon Café allow him to show his appreciation of Orange and its rich heritage. When he’s not in the kitchen, you can find David on the water reeling in fish or hunting in the woods.
