Frequently Asked Questions About Membership
1 When will I get my membership card?
Unless purchased in person at our membership office, your membership card should arrive within 7-10 days from the date of your membership purchase.
2 Can I visit before I get my card?
Sure! Just bring your photo ID and your membership receipt and stop by the Admissions Office or the Members Only Express Entry Gate to verify your purchase and receive your free entry to Shangri La. However, once your card has been mailed, you must present it to receive free entry.
3 How many cards will I receive for my membership?
That depends on the level of membership purchased. For an Individual or Dual membership, one card will be issued to the named applicant. If an applicant includes a second member name on the application where indicated, we will issue two cards for the following membership levels:
Couples, Family, Azalea, and Orchid
The issuance of two cards for the Couples, Family, Azalea and Orchid membership levels is for the convenience of our members. The second card must be for an adult who is in the same household as the applicant (such as a spouse). Please see the following questions for restrictions regarding the usage of a membership as it pertains to guests.
4 Can I bring guests with my membership?
That depends on your current membership level.
- If you have a dual level membership, you can bring any one guest per visit
- If you have a family level membership, you can bring yourself, the other adult named on the membership (who must be in the same household) and up to 4 children (including grandchildren) under the ages of 21 years per visit.
- If you have an Azalea level membership, you can bring yourself, the other adult named on the membership (who must be in the same household) and up to seven guests (any combination of adult or child) per visit.
- If you have an Orchid level membership, you can bring yourself, the other adult named on the membership (who must be in the same household) and up to nine guests (any combination of adult or child) per visit.
- All guests must accompany the named card holder for any member level
5 If a membership is purchased for which two cards are issued (Couples level and above), can each named member/cardholder bring the maximum number of guests for that membership level?
No. Admission of guests is based on the level of membership purchased as opposed to the number of cards presented under any membership level.
Each membership will be assigned a member number, which is shared by the cardholders if more than one card is issued. Regardless of whether multiple cards are issued, the purchase is for one membership and, thus, the benefits under the purchased membership level are shared by the named members/cardholders.
For example, if two adults in the same household each hold a membership card under an Azalea membership, they may not each bring seven guests (for a total of 14 guests) on the same day.
If additional guests beyond the maximum permitted under a membership level accompany the named member, then those guests must purchase an admission.
6 Can I lend my Shangri La membership card to a friend or family member?
No. Memberships are non-transferable and are valid only for the person(s) whose name(s) appears on the card. Supporting photo ID is required for entrance.
7 What will happen if I violate a term or condition of a membership?
We appreciate your support and will strive to ensure that your association with Shangri La is enjoyable and beneficial. Although your membership is a benefit, it is also a privilege subject to revocation. In order to prevent misuse of our membership cards, we will enforce all rules, terms and conditions of membership. Therefore, membership may be revoked as a result of prohibited conduct or violation of the terms and conditions of membership.
8 If I am a member, do I have to make a reservation for an Outpost Tour?
Yes. While members receive free entry to the Gardens and Outpost Tour, all guests who desire to participate in an Outpost Tour must reserve a seat(s) for such tour at the admissions window. Outpost Tours are subject to availability and to the separate schedule for such attraction, as stated in the Admissions policy. Outpost Tours will be booked on a first come, first serve basis.
9 Are membership fees refundable?
No. A membership is payable in full in advance of the 12-month period for which it is issued. Membership fees are not refundable for any reason.
