Ellen Wiemers

Environmental Educator

Since 2004, Ellen has been honing her environmental education skills in many different settings all across the state of Texas. She has taught while holding alligators and snakes, looking up at the Milky Way galaxy in the Hill Country of Texas, paddling across Lake LBJ in a kayak, stepping out of the box in the school classroom, and eating cactus with her students.

Originally from Orange, Texas, Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Agnes State College.

As environmental educator, Ellen is responsible for working with students of all ages and teaching them in the setting of Shangri La’s Nature Center. The programs led by her will take students through cypress/tupelo swamps, digging through grasslands, and exploring upland forests. She will also work with Shangri La volunteers in order to do everything possible to make the experiences of visitors unforgettable.
